Frequently Asked Questions

I remember trying for almost 2 years to get 8a certified to do business with the government and failed. To make matters worse I knew I wasted all that time and lost out on potential profit I could of made if I would of just hired an expert to get it done for me. Shortly after finding the right mentors, I went from struggling to winning over a million dollars in Government Contracts in less than 9 months making several hundred thousand dollars. As of now, I have yet to obtain my 8a certificate, but I remain hopeful that I will be approved in the future.

Many individuals beginning their entrepreneurial journey assume that a sophisticated office and a complete team are necessary for success. However, within half a year of launching my business, I secured my first contract by collaborating with a well-established firm. As the agreement was under their company name, my business history was not a factor. We utilized their accounts, credit, and funds, while I simply billed for the project and received my share of the earnings. This experience proved to be more gratifying than constructing my own company from scratch.

A client of mine, located in North Carolina South Eastern GC, once told me they only wanted to pursue sole source or set-aside projects, avoiding open market opportunities due to the competitive nature of construction. They believed they couldn’t compete on price while maintaining profitability.

While conducting research, we came across an agency with a project that had no bids. The contract specialist requested that I encourage my client to submit a bid, as they desperately needed the work done. My client agreed to participate.

To our surprise, we were the sole bidder. After negotiating the initially high price, the project was awarded to us. A 3M contract to change out 2500 doors with over 1M in profit in it. This experience debunked the assumption that all RFPs are highly competitive, as there are some projects with little to no competition.

After some preliminary research I reached out to an agency that informed me of a project that was on the market with no bidders. The contract specialist asked me politely if I could bid the project so that the agency could receive at least 1 offer because they really needed the work done. I convinced my client to bid the project.

It turned out that we were in fact the only bidder. Big surprise. After a brief negotiation on price (we were really high) they awarded us the project. Like most people looking at the RFP screen I thought every job was ultra competitive. Turns out that some jobs have 1 or no competitors.

“It feels like just yesterday that I began participating in various events and conferences. I read books, watched hours of YouTube channels, I spoke with members at the Chamber of Commerce and National associations. We registered for PTAC, became a member of organizations, and paid my dues. I also took part in affordable seminars that taught me about creating price proposals and managing accounting. I even joined a couple paid masterminds… Here’s the deal none of these taught me how to secure sole source contracts.

I hadn’t realized the significant investment of time and money I had made in attending these events. In retrospect, I lost thousands of dollars in productivity and time.”

Initially, I believed that a sophisticated office and a complete team were necessary for success. However, within six months of starting my business, I secured my first contract by collaborating with a well-established contractors. I acted as the middleman. I utilized their references, they paid for all the materials and labor and my business history was irrelevant. We relied on their accounts, credit, and finances, and I simply invoiced for my portion of the project, collecting my share of the profits. I made over $77,000 on that first contract. This experience was even more rewarding than building my own company from scratch.
